Dr. Yehia Massoud is a pioneering academic and leader in computer science and the software industry known for his unique ability to connect academic research and industrial innovation. He earned his Ph. D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT, where he began a career characterized by pioneering work in software development and computational systems. In Silicon Valley, he helped invent commercial software used by thousands of users worldwide, laying the groundwork for high-performance computing and software designs.
Dr. Yehia Massoud’s impact is academic leadership with a pronounced emphasis on software and computational sciences. While serving as Dean of the School of Systems and Enterprises at Stevens Institute of Technology, he led curriculum innovation by embedding software development, entrepreneurship and critical emerging technologies to ensure graduates are prepared to tackle complex global grand challenges. Dr. Yehia Massoud’s work encompasses advanced software systems, computational efficiency and interdisciplinary problem solving. Throughout his career, he has led over $53 million in funded projects that revolved around scalable software solutions to real-world problems, from minimalist algorithms to social-organization-changing systems.
He has held several positions in leading institutions of higher education and the industry names including Rice University, Stevens Institute of Technology, WPI, UAB, Kaust, Stanford University, IBM, and Synopsys Inc. Along with his leadership roles As a scholar, Dr. Yehia Massoud has more than 500 peer-reviewed publications, many of them pioneering new methodologies in the areas of computer science and software engineering. He has achieved international success, garnering several awards, including the Synopsys Engineering Award and the Rising Star of Texas Medal. He is a Fellow of IEEE, IET, IOP, and Optica. Dr. Yehia Massoud’s extensive connections with industry, including companies like Intel, Google, Intel, Synopsys, and Texas Instruments, reflect his capacity to build a bridge between research and commercialization.
